![]() ![]() Lavish parties, designer clothes, nothing but the best of the best. She’s like one of the Vanderbilts back in the day or something. She’s extremely wealthy, certainly a ‘one percenter’ if you will. ![]() But maybe she’s not that shallow, just very cynical due to her family and upbringing. First you have Desdemona who, at the start, you get the feeling is a very shallow type of girl. This is done PERFECTLY in Desdemona and the Deep.įor such a short book there are quite a few things explored here and yet it never feels like there’s too much packed in, or too many things going on–each element is perfectly balanced. I love when they’re other worldly and not humanized too much, like there is an almost alien feel to them, something very much not human that makes it just a bit tough to ever get a feel for them. ![]() I love stories of the fae when they’re all dark and weird and they make dangerous bargains. And also beautiful in its own unique way. First of all, don’t let that beautiful cover fool you–weird shit is happening in this book and it is amazing. Just kidding, of course I have more to say. This book was fucking weird and I loved it. Below are goblins, mysterious kingdoms, and an entirely different hierarchy. On the surface, her world is rife with industrial pollution that ruins the health of poor factory workers while the idle rich indulge themselves in unheard-of luxury. ![]() In Desdemona and the Deep, the spoiled daughter of a rich mining family must retrieve the tithe of men her father promised to the world below. ![]() ![]() I liked hearing a Duckwrth song in episode 4, that was a personal touch that I liked cos he's one of my favourite rappers. Then there was Let It Shine (which introduced me to Coco Jones and Trevor Jackson whom I love), Let It Shine was likely the only black show/movie on disney that felt like it had overt references to the black american experience while having a predominantly black main cast. When I was watching disney shows back in the day there weren't too many black shows, it was Thats So Raven, then later on Ant Farm and by the time KC Undercover came out I was "too old" to really enjoy it and my niece was watching it at the time. In my opinion some of dialogue falls flat at times, also the kids in the show from what I understand are 13, but to me they appear closer to 15 maybe kids in the US just look older these days. Its definitely more family friendly then what I tend to watch nowadays, thats not a bad thing at all. ![]() I'm in my 20s so I haven't watched Disney Channel shows in years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They debate who wrote Mark, whether the the Gospels came from anonymous traditions and how they received their titles. Richard Bauckham, author of “Jesus and the Eyewitnesses”, defends the view that the Gospels were written by those with access to eyewitness testimony of Jesus’ first followers. On April 9 and 16, 2016, Professors Bart Ehrman and Richard Bauckham engaged in a debate on the radio show Unbelievable about the topic of Bauckham’s most well-known book, Jesus and the Eyewitnesses: The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony.īart Ehrman’s new book “Jesus Before the Gospels” makes the case that the stories about Jesus would have changed and evolved before they were written down as the Gospels. ![]() ![]() ![]() 'THE RISING is the story of Jim Thurmond, a determined father battling his way across a post-apocalyptic zombie landscape, to find his young son. I always try to make my own synopsis when writing a review, but with this one I would probably spoil something, so I think the synopsis of the book says it all. Overall I enjoyed this story but I did find the ending rather abrupt and somewhat frustrating The narrator lets you feel the horror and loss the cold hatred of the risen dead, the guilt and responsibility Baker feels, the depravity of the meat wagon and the anguish as Jim desperately tries to reach his son. The narration in this newly released (07/2017) audiobook is great. No, this story wasn't perfect and it lacked detail in some places, but the multiple stories of different individuals do interweave to form a picture of desperation, strength, survival, immorality, loss and love. ![]() I must admit though, that the thought of a zombie fish did make me laugh and yet somehow it seemed to fit ok in that section of the story. The dead, both human and animal, are just vessels for something more sinister and deadly. ![]() Yes, like in the usual zombie tales, the dead do rise but they are not the shambling, mindless zombies that normally occur in this type of story. ![]() This is an unusual, action packed and somewhat disturbing story. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because a guy who wants nothing but romance and a guy who wants nothing but sex will never work-right? Not unless they find a way to fill in the spaces between them. Vaughn and Jonah find themselves grappling not just with stolen art, but with their own differences. When another painting goes missing, tension ramps up both on and off the clock. ![]() No way can Jonah give Vaughn what he really wants, not when Jonah barely understands what love is. Names, characters, places, and incidents are either the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Jonah wants his men like his coffee: hot, intense, and daily.
